Our Founder

 Barrett W. Orteg, CEO

Barrett W. Orteg has spent the last two decades with his boots on the
ground (and sometimes in the mud) across Africa-serving in Uganda,
Kenya, Sudan, South Africa, and Zambia. Whether it’s launching
microloan programs, helping build clean water systems, caring for
orphans, or walking alongside survivors of gender-based violence,
Barrett’s work has always been about showing up where it matters
most.

From prisons to villages to global leadership summits, he’s helped
bring hope, healing, and practical solutions to some of the world’s
toughest challenges. But this isn’t just a resume—-it’s a calling. Guided
by faith and fueled by compassion, Barrett leads Harvest for Hungry
Children with a mission to create real, lasting change—starting with
food and water security for the Children who need it most.
